Juice Feasts favorite 3…

Superfoods that is…!
While juice feasting I do enjoy partaking in some additional boosts of energy, nutrition and vitality of the superfood kind!
Since I am working a 9-5 lifestyle at the moment and am under a little more pressure than usual it has also been very handy to have some back up nutrition when juicing can take time and it’s not always possible to juice as much as I’d like 😦
My top 3 additions to any juice feast/fast are of corse….

***bee pollen and chlorella and spirulina crunchies***

Following on from yesterdays blog, I am not suggesting we use these 3 semi-solid foods to make up for our cravings 😉
As challenging as it may be, they are best used as additional super-foods to offer super-health gaining benefits!

So, if you have been following our blogs, you will know that bee pollen is one of our most favorite foods!
I think if I had super-food award, bee pollen might win the top prize!
Steve and I managed to travel from the UK to Costa Rica living off only Bee pollen and water!
We dehydrated our favorite fresh bee pollen…
And took bags of it on the plane with us…

While on this juice feast I am enjoying the local bee pollen of Arizona along with some Vivapura North West bee pollen.
Since it is composed of 55% carbohydrates it gives an extra kick when energy levels are low.
Bee Pollen is also 35% protein and  contains all 22 known amino acids and all 28 minerals found in the human body.
Beleive it or not, it could be a great body builders secret weapon!
I can feel how bee pollen rejuvenates my body and enhances vitality.
It is rapidly absorbed into the blood stream and stimulates immunological responses.
There are so many great benefits to pollen, too much to list here.
But it gives us an even better excuse to include this magical food in our lives 🙂

Bee Pollen collect on the bees legs while he pollinates the flowers!

Thank you Bees!

Next up is Chlorella (I like the tabs best or you can try the powder mixed into a fresh water melon juice…mmm mmm!)
Chlorella is an algae with 5 to 10 times the chlorophyll content of any other algae. It detoxifies the body by binding with heavy metals as it passes through. Chlorella Growth Factor (CGF), unique to Chlorella, causes the benign lactobacillus, which is crucial to digestion to multiply at four times the normal rate and also accelerates the regrowth of damaged tissue. This promotes rapid growth in children and builds our immune system!

Since arriving here in Arizona we have a made new friend of the feline kind….
Goji, the Vivapura Warehouse cat!
She makes sure we are rodent free and sufficiently cuddled!
But even with all the mice and birds she could eat she still knows the amazing power of chlorella!!!

Goji Loves Chlorella!

Goji couldn't believe her luck when I'd finished a bag of chlorella and opened it up for her to grab the left over powder

And finally, Spirulina…

Spirulina close up looks just like our own DNA!

I have chosen to quote Spirulina Crunchies, not because I work for the home of these yummy little crispy nuggets of goodness, but because I truly believe these are one of the best inventions ever.
It makes taking spirulina 100 x more pleasurable and easy!
Spirulina is a  highly concentrated protein source and so easy to digest due to the lack of hard cellular walls.
It is a complete protein source since it contains all 8 essential amino acids in the proper ratios, and eighteen amino acids in total.
Would you belive, a gram of spirulina is 4 times more absorbable than a gram of meat?
And, it is so easy to grow and takes less room per cubic centimeter than any other known crop.
Acre for acre, spirulina produces 20 times more protein than soy beans, 40 times more protein than corn and 400 times more protein than beef while requiring only 1/10 of the water needed for beef production!

Other bonus health benefits of spirulina include…
Best Source of GLA: Gamma-linolenic acid. An anti-inflammatory essential fatty acid necessary for a healthy nervous system.
Vast Spectrum of Antioxidants: loaded with antioxidants like natural beta carotene, mixed carotenoids, zeaxanthin, chlorophyll, phycocyanin, gamma linolenic acid (GLA), riboflavin, a host of other phytonutrients. Protect against harmful UV sunlight, pollution, and environmental stress.
Minerals: High in essential minerals and trace minerals. Easily assimilated by the body as the minerals are chelated with the amino acids.
Iron: 2300% more iron than spinach. Delivers oxygen to cells throughout your body. Improves energy levels. Promotes good health during growth phases. Prevents anemia.
Beta Carotene: 3900% more beta carotene than carrots. A source of Vitamin A that your body cannot produce on its own.
Vitamin K: An essential nutrient that must be obtained from sources outside the body.
Calcium: 300% more calcium than whole milk.
Chlorophyll (the green pigment): Blood builder and purifier. Supports liver and kidney function to detoxify your blood. Chlorophyll is deeply cleansing and alkalizing. Protects from UV radiation at a cellular level.
Phycocyanin (the blue pigment): Phycocyanin works like a magnet to help remove heavy metals and pollutants from your body. Induces production of more stem cells found in bone marrow.
Nucleic Acids: RNA and DN

… The ONLY problem is, watch out for those green teeth! It is hard to disguise a healthy serving of chlorella or spirulina 😉

So, enjoy feeling super human full of energy and magically healthy everybody!!!

Big Love and Spirulina smiles!

    Hi Susan,

Great info here. You might be interested in Sun Chlorella A which is considered one of the most digestible and bioavailble Chlorella’s on the market.

Below is one of our favourite smoothie recipes here at Sun Chlorella UK, which your readers might be interested in making with a free sample from our Facebook Page! http://on.fb.me/ehknTv

    Savoury Green Smoothie
    Serving: 1-2

In a blender or smoothie maker add 1-2 cups of spring water then:

    • ½ Chopped cucumber (with skin and pips)
    • 1 rib of celery chopped
    • ¼ to ½ Avocado (without skin!)
    • 1 clove of garlic (optional)
    • 8 fresh basil leaves
    • 2 sprigs of parsley
    • Juice from ½ lemon or lime
    • ¼ teaspoon Himalayan salt
    • Fresh ground black pepper
